The inauguration ceremony of Donald Trump as the 47th President of the United States took place on January 20, 2025. The event was a culmination of several days of celebrations and ceremonies, which began on January 18, 2025.

Pre-Inauguration Events

On January 18, 2025, a President Trump Reception and Fireworks event was held at the Trump National Golf Club in Sterling, Virginia. This was followed by a President Trump Cabinet Reception and Vice President’s Dinner at the National Gallery of Art in Washington, D.C.

Inauguration Day

On January 20, 2025, the inauguration ceremony began with a service at St. John’s Episcopal Church in Lafayette Square, Washington, D.C. This was followed by a White House Tea at the White House.

Swearing-In Ceremony

The swearing-in ceremony took place at 12:00 pm ET on the West Steps of the United States Capitol Building. However, due to inclement weather, the ceremony was moved to the Capitol Rotunda. Donald Trump took the Oath of Office, followed by an inaugural address.

Inaugural Parade

After the swearing-in ceremony, the inaugural parade began at approximately 3:30 pm ET. The parade route ran from the U.S. Capitol to the White House along Pennsylvania Avenue. Public viewing areas were available along the route, and a limited number of bleacher seats could be reserved through the Presidential Inaugural Committee.

Inaugural Balls

In the evening, several inaugural balls took place, including the Commander-in-Chief Ball, the Liberty Inaugural Ball, and the Starlight Ball. These events were organized by the Presidential Inaugural Committee and featured remarks by President Trump.

Security and Logistics

The inauguration ceremony was heavily secured, with road closures and security checkpoints in place throughout the city. The public was advised to use public transportation, walk, or bike to get around the city, rather than driving. Portable toilets and food vendors were available along the National Mall, and heating and comfort stations were set up to help visitors stay warm.
